Jimmy Durante

Rare iconic Deluxe Press photograph depicts the legendary comedian and actor Jimmy Durante posing delightfully alongside a large, Jack-o'-lantern. The press still plays on Durante’s famous trademark feature: his exceptionally large nose, which he affectionately nicknamed "The Schnozzola". In the photo, the carved nose of the Jack-o'-lantern is comically oversized and shaped to mimic Durante’s own distinct profile. These types of whimsical promotional photos were frequently distributed by studios to newspapers and syndicates ahead of autumn holidays to keep beloved vaudeville and film stars in the public eye.

This original photograph or ‘publicity still’ was first issued to promote the film’s release. Captured on set during production, publicity stills were designed to be sent inside press kits to newspapers, magazines and cinemas.
