Mean Streets

An original US Press Still for the 1973 classic crime drama that put Martin Scorsese firmly on the map ahead of his 1976’s hit Taxi Driver. Co-written by Scorsese, Mean Streets is also a film that is very personal to the director because the film is set in and around the Manhattan neighbourhood he grew up in.

This original photograph or ‘publicity still’ was first issued to promote the film’s release. Captured on set during production, publicity stills were designed to be sent inside press kits to newspapers, magazines and cinemas.
